Here I’m going to try and explain the steps I use to make the wheels I’ve posted this week . I will post pics and explain the process I’m showing .
Tools you’ll need and a Dremel tool .
You’ll need to find a set of Revell wheels that on the back side as a rounded lip.
Now take a hobby knife with a new sharp #11 blade and only trim off the little edges level the one that goes all the way around.
When done you should have this
Now take your saw or dremel saw DON’T USE A CUT OFF WHEEL IT WILL MELT IT.
Put the blade right on top of the edge that goes around the wheel as a guide for your saw
Once done you should have this.
Sand your cut side and then you’ll have a nice ring
Now pick a wheel you want to work with
On this wheel being a revell wheel you’ll have to trim off all the edging around the out side of your wheel chosen.
Now take your ring and wheel and add them together to see the depth of your wheel ring set up.
Now pick a tire and add them together.
Tire to thick? Then just find a smaller
But the wheel won’t fit into smaller tire
Just grab a sanding post and thin the tire out till it either fits your wheel or the thickness you want
Now add your wheel
If your lip is to wide just add top in the width you want and trim it
Now if you have a wheel that once you add the lip the rear of the wheel sticks out take a sharpie draw a line along the back of the tire so you know where to trim it to.
It works with all wheels as long as the rings are the same size or larger then the wheels you choose.
Factory wheel and tire on the left, custom set up on the right.
t’s a bit of work but worth the effort. I hope this has helped and you guys try this. Take your time and enjoy.
