This was initially inspired by John Ludwick’s 1:1 stanced rat Corvair, but I chose a slightly different path. Think of this as an abandoned 70’s lowrider being brought back to life & put on the road as a rat rod with some modern touches, but still some of that old school flavor. Being an old tooling with poor engine & chassis detail, I went curbside and focused just on paint, interior & final fitment. Patina was done by a combination of Dr. Cranky’s salt method & a Tamiya weathering kit. Wheels are Pegasus Sovereigns but with stretchwall tires from 124stancebuilt. On the interior you’ll find photo etch bomber seats by Wildhare Models; scratchbuilt chain steering wheel & functioning Boman style color bar by Los Underground Kingz MCC club brother Douglas “Sinicle” Knoben; vintage pipe organ speakers on the furry rear deck (pirated from a 70’s release of a lowrider 57 Chevy kit); LUGK club plaque, custom dash gauges, skull shifter, sarape headliner and a Detail Junkees skateboard on the back seat. The drive-in movie theater style speaker was also a scratchbuilt gift by Douglas Knoben & helps complete the look I was going for. Thanks for looking! -David Bayon aka Dig Derange aka Detail Junkee
